Bible Verses for Single Christians Seeking Marriage
In Genesis 2 we learn that God made man, and the first man he made was named Adam.
In verse 18 it says, “Then the Lord God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone. I will make a helper who is just right for him.“
In verses 21-22, God created Eve, Adam’s life partner. Right when Adam saw Eve, he knew she was the best thing for him. Marriage is God’s beautiful plan for a man and a woman.
It is important to know that when your marital status changes and you are married, the enemy is on the prowl.
The enemy would love to split apart what God has put together.
Something I loved to do before (and after) I met my husband was to pray and speak scripture over him and our future marriage.
We have to know that the enemy hates marriage because it’s a reflection of Christ’s love for his church. The enemy will do everything he can to hurt our marriage and keep us far from God (Genesis 3).
This is why it is so important to pray, seek, and speak scripture over your future spouse and your future marriage.
Don’t get me wrong, marriage is hard. It takes dying to yourself daily! But I believe happy marriage that glorifies God is achieved, one way, by understanding scripture on marriage and praying for ourselves and our future marriage.
Bible Verses:
1. “Let marriage be held in honor among all, and let the marriage bed be undefiled, for God will judge the sexually immoral and adulterous.” -Hebrews 13:4
2. “and said, ‘Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? So they are no longer two but on flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let not man separate” -Matthew 19:5-6
3. “Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.“ -1 Corinthians 13:4-7
4.“Do not be unequally yoked with unbelievers. For what partnership has righteousness with lawlessness? Or what fellowship has light with darkness?” -2 Corinthians 6:14
5. “Wives, submit to your husbands, as is fitting in the Lord. Husbands, love your wives, and do not be harsh with them.” -Colossians 3:18-19
6. “But I want you to understand that the head of every man is Christ, the head of a wife is her husband, and the head of Christ is God.” -1 Corinthians 11:3
7. “Above all, keep loving one another earnestly, since love covers a multitude of sins.” -1 Peter 4:8
8. “Let all that you do be done in love” -1 Corinthians 16:14
9. “But because of the temptation to sexual immorality, each man should have his own wife and each woman her own husband.” -1 Corinthians 7:2
10. “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.” -Ephesians 4:31-32
